Installment Icarus is a small, multinational private military corporation specializing in VIP protection, direct action, high-interest facility protection, and quick reaction force support. Founded during the Gulf War, the company was established by a network of former special operators, intelligence professionals, and logistics experts to meet the growing demand for discreet and effective security solutions.

By 2008, at the peak of the Global War on Terror, Installment Icarus had established a strong reputation by supporting its clientele across multiple regions, securing critical business interests from threats posed by governments and individuals worldwide.

Their primary clientele consists of multinational corporations with vital business interests in volatile regions, particularly across the Middle East and Africa. Installment Icarus offers a wide range of services, including VIP convoy security, high-interest facility protection, precision direct action missions, and rapid tactical response through dedicated quick reaction force units.

In the public eye, the company operates as Icarus Security Solutions, providing small-scale physical security services such as bodyguards alongside cybersecurity and intelligence gathering. This legitimate business front enables Installment Icarus to maintain a credible presence while discreetly managing its more sensitive tactical operations.

By 2010, the organization had outgrown its Texas facility. To accommodate the influx of new equipment and support expanding operational capabilities, Installment Icarus initiated the development of a state-of-the-art facility in Nova Scotia, Canada. This new base, known as the Canso Maritime & Air Terminal, was constructed alongside their advanced maritime support vessel, the MV Horizon. The terminal functions in coordination with their corporate headquarters, Canso Tower, located in Halifax. Both facilities were completed in 2014. 

The Canso Maritime & Air Terminal is a key hub for Installment Icarus’s global operations, built with the infrastructure needed to support both maritime and air deployments. The terminal is designed to accommodate the MV Horizon, a large specialized Roll-on/Roll-off vessel with a flight deck and ample vehicle storage, allowing for quick loading and deployment. Nearby, a fully equipped airfield with climate-controlled hangars protects a variety of aircraft, ensuring they’re ready to deploy and maintain in any weather. Training facilities keep personnel sharp through continuous preparation and mission rehearsals. While the terminal itself is a secure operational center, accommodations for members of the Operations and Logistics Departments are located just across the Canso Causeway, providing convenient but separate living quarters that support quick response times and efficient coordination. Together, these features make the Canso Terminal a self-sufficient and secure base tailored to meet the demanding needs of Installment Icarus.

Rising modestly within downtown Halifax, Canso Tower stands as the administrative heartbeat of Installment Icarus. While not a sprawling complex, its sleek, modern design houses critical executive offices and key administrative personnel who manage the company’s public-facing services and internal operations. From this centralized location, corporate leadership directs client relations, contract negotiations, and daily business affairs, ensuring that the company’s legitimate front—operating under Icarus Security Solutions—maintains a professional and credible presence. Equipped with secure communications systems, the tower enables seamless coordination between field units, intelligence teams, and support departments worldwide. Though compact, Canso Tower’s strategic importance lies in its role as the nerve center that connects Installment Icarus’s diverse operations under one roof.
